Union Pacific DD40 No. 6900

Oct. 15, 2005 - Completed Work!

On October 15, 2005, a "sneak-peek" opening of Kenefick park was held. The Big Boy and the DD40 sparkled in the sunlight. Below are some pictures of the final touches on the DD40.

Many of the items worked on for this mammoth diesel locomotive related to parts that received a lot of "wear-an'-tear" over the years. These radiator "screens" are free of dents. You'll also notice that they have been closed off as well, to protect the engine components from the elements of weather, while still maintaining the correct appearance of the locomotive.

Likewise, the radiator fans have been completely covered with solid plate.

. . . Must be "Moose Season" in Omaha. . .

Here's a view of the completed product! The crew (Brent Milota, Brian Milota, John Rimmasch, and Matt Janssen) takes a moment to pose in front of the DD40. This locomotive will be a wonderful attraction to kids and adults of all ages who come to visit the park.
